Taewon Ahn's work blends the fantasy of the digital world with his urge to return to analog.
Taewon Ahn was born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1993. Korea in the early 90s was an era of transition from analog to digital rather quickly. At that time, computers were becoming popular, and his father was a programmer, which led him to have contact with technology sooner than his peers.
Since then, the influence of digital media has quickly permeated daily life, and naturally, he grew up as an adult full of digital sensitivity. Now digital media affects real life vastly beyond comparison to two or three decades ago. The fantasy of the digital world is still the motive for his works. However, he also has the urge to return to analog. I want to make art that exists between the two worlds.
